Vardo

This, my 7th build, was modeled on the Paleovardo, an inspiring and well documented build on the net and instructables.

Each build explores new territory and is more art than technology, very little planning, not knowing how its going to unfold, but trusting it will morph into something worthwhile, and it always does.

This one explored a wet area on entry, keeping the shower, basin and cooking separate from the sleeping / living area. It was designed for one with an infrequent visitor, a retreat space that could handle rough offroad with excellent tow in and out angles for mountain retreats.

The shower set up is gas with 12 V DC shower pump off a small battery or car. The single stove has a small gas bottle and one months supply of feul.

The insulation is great with the walls having zincalume skins, reflective foil,50mm ecotherm insulation and 8mm OSB.

The roof has a breathable membrane instead of foil which causes condensation, and a airflow space between the corrugation and membrane with a baffle at the front to stop rain getting in whilst driving. Bit like a Landrover desert roof set up. Works well

The bed is single with a pipe cot / settee for 2 to sit side by side. There's plenty of storage under the bed and in the 4 ammo type boxes on the outside which add a fair bit of time in the build. In future I'd pull the floor down at the wall and internalize this space though it does look attractive from the outside.

It was a second hand trailer that ended up costing more than new having to replace the piston brake in the coupler, the coupler connector, brake cables, etc, etc. Won't go there again!
